staying out of trouble

It is a cold and rainy night. Not very original, but it is. Rare for Los Angeles, a wet, sunless day like this. I ventured out to see Juno with Natalie. Cute movie, fun afternoon. I had a general desire to curse all of humanity because The Grove was packed to the rafters when we thought it would be sparsely populated. I focused on Natalie's good company and made it through without calling anyone (or everyone) a foul name. (There is something about crutches that turns a person into an instant curmudgeon.) I even had a pleasant encounter when we ran into a lovely friend and had a nice conversation with her.

Though I enjoyed myself I was relieved to return home because wet pavement and crutches, I discovered, do not mix. I said a little prayer with every step and promised never to be so foolhardy again.

Now I'm all cozied up and pondering what to knit. I'm supposed to be doing a pair of mittens on commission for a co-worker, but I've never done mittens and I'm not sure I'm in the mood to learn any new tricks. Maybe I'll crochet. Or work on a sweater.

Or maybe I'll refill my favorite mug with Trader Joe's cocoa and unbelievable peppermint marshmallows. The marshmallows are only offered for the holiday season, thank God, and once I heard about them I hunted down the last and asked Bubs to go on a rescue mission. They're just the right thing for a night like this. Eating them, I feel all wintry and ready to work with wool.

Damn it! now I want some pepperment marshmallows and i can't get them out here. I'll have to settle for some Lake Champlain chocolates... Milk chocolate, sea salt & almonds!

Ellen -- Heh heh. Yes! I've started a little crochet project. I'm nearly done with it, just a few finishing touches and blocking. I was able to do it thanks to you! I'll blog it so you can see.

Cambria -- We'll have to do ourselves a little exchange next year. Oh yeah. :)
