dispatch from tar-zhay

Yesterday I crutched into Target. This Target, the West Hollywood store, is popular. So happens, Frank was there too. We didn't see each other, but Frank documented his trip with some great photos, courtesy of his new iPhone. Me, I took the underground-parking-garage-to-the-elevator route, so I didn't take in all the palm trees and mountains and loveliness that mark Frank's vista.

But, I had my own excitement. I got to ride on a scooter!

(Photos courtesy of my non-iPhone.)

When I walked inside the store a very nice security guard offered to get me one of these babies. Riding through the store on it was loads of fun. For obvious reasons, it doesn't go very fast (I tested it). When it backs up, it beeps, like a truck. After a while, the beep gets a little obnoxious, so I tried not to back up too much. Let the store shelves tell it, going in reverse is not my forte anyway.

The excitement was in the novelty of rolling around the store while knowing that the next time I go back, I'll be walking. I can see how it wouldn't be all good times to have to ride the cart on every visit.

Just once, though, it was a blast.

(And yes, I do stockpile toilet paper and paper towels.)

When Mom had her knee surgery years ago, she used a scooter in Target and nearly took out, and in this order I believe, a display of toilet paper, two small children who were crying (that was to prove a point), my shopping cart, and a security guard. Needless to say, we weren't very popular on that run. Glad you enjoyed your trip!
